Camera Cottage

Why Us?

Being the ONLY camera store in the area will be very hard, I know. I am working very hard to do the best I can to supply any and all local photographers with quality gear and service that they can afford and trust. Being a photographer myself I understand the frustration of not having a shop like this nearby and want everyone to offer suggestions for things they would like to see here. Thank you for your help!

Who We Are

At Carters Camera Cottage, we are focused on providing  Photo gear and services with the highest levels of customer satisfaction – we will do everything we can to meet your expectations.

With a variety of offerings to choose from, we’re sure you’ll be happy working with us. Look around our infant website and if you have any comments or questions, please feel free to contact us. We hope to see you again! Check back later for new updates to our website. There’s much more to come!

UPDATE 6-21-2013!

The excitement is building! I went out and bought paint today, yes for the grungy exterior of the store. Stay tuned for the whole new look!

6-25    Paint is almost finished, but the Yellow is going to take 3 coats to cover that awful brown! But its still a great improvement!

March 1, 2014

Well, winter is still here, and March has definitely come in like a lion! Almost 30 inches of snow on the level right now. Best news is that it should make for a very nice, green Spring, whenever it finally gets here. Most the flowers in my planters are likely not coming back so I will have to start from scratch. All the more photo op's!

Happy shooting!!!

March 3, 2015

Geez, what a difference a year makes!!! A whole new store in the "Big City"? What's an old country boy like me doing here? Someone once said that you have to go to the people to get them to come to you, so that's what I have done.
I feel VERY fortunate to have been able to provide my customers, both local and nationwide, with what I think is the best camera store experience available in the area. Its been less than two years since starting down this long road, but I have loved every minute of it, and all the wonderful people I have met along the way. I look forward to many more years of providing the best service I can manage, and to one day pass this enterprise along to my daughter. Thank you to everyone who has been my customers, and my friends trough "Phase 1" of this venture, and I look forward to your support through Phase 2!

May 2019 update.

Getting ready for a new chapter in my life!

Most of my regulars know that I opened this store to fill in for the extra time in my life offered by raising my daughter Alice alone after losing her mother, my wife Linda, to breast cancer in 2007. While the store has been a very successful endeavor, all good things must come to an end sometime. I have spent the last 12 years of my life raising her while my photography was literally put on hold to do so. My daughter will graduate High School in May of 2020 and that date will mark the beginning of a new phase of my life, getting back to photography full time. Unfortunately she has no interest in the business.

That will mean in late 2019 I will be putting the Camera Cottage up for sale. I really do hope I can find a serious buyer as the store is a great service to the community, and quite successful, at least for me. The downside is that running it is a full time job. The store is open 36 hours a week but I find I put in 50-60 hours a week keeping it going. If I do not find a buyer in SUMMER OF 2019 then starting in SEPTEMBER 2019, I will be selling off inventory in preparation of closing the business down, and I truly feel that would be a huge loss for the community and all the surrounding areas as well.

My future will start out with a 5 month photo expedition to Canada, Alaska, and New England beginning June 6, 2020. Preparations have already begun for this expedition as it is something you really cannot just up and do. The photo above shows the Jeep and trailer I will be taking for the entire 20,000 mile route. You can follow progress of this trip at:

Thanks to everyone who has supported my operation here and I do hope you will all support the new owners as well!
